Chu Kong starts the series explicitly rejecting and disdaining romantic love. You might think you're special -- of course you are, we're all special -- but the fact is Chu Kong is most likely to be interested in dating you if there's something in it for him. This is also not something you should want in a romantic partner unless you are comfortable hashing out contract terms in advance. Maybe that's your fetish, but he's probably going to want to make a lot of amendments in his favour and he'll be rude about it. Be sure to get independent legal advice before signing anything if Chu Kong wants to enter a formal dating contract.
If you can get past the bit where he doesn't want to date anyone, amnesiac tribulations suggest that Chu Kong is, at his core, a sweet boy who falls fast and hard when he does fall in love and will go to great lengths to make the person he loves happy and not just with generic romantic gestures. If he's in love with you, he'll be interested in what you're interested in, whether it's illicit fireworks or trash romance novels.
Chu Kong may be a self-conscious romantic once love happens, prone to pining and setting great store by love tokens, but he's also easily embarrassed. Every time he falls in love will somehow be his first time falling in love. Don't press boundaries too much until you've known him from infancy.
Prone to jealousy which manifests before any awareness of love enters his consciousness, Chu Kong will have his guard up when it comes to men you aren't both friends with and may be possessive and reluctant to share your attention with others until your relationship is locked down.
Don't date Chu Kong unless he's got double amnesia, in which case you will have a wonderful time. It might get awkward when he regains at least one level of memories, though, so prepare yourself for having that conversation at least once.

Just finished love you seven times anddd maybe I'm a bit dissappointed. They change A LOT of things from the novel and steer it into classical xianxia trope that already being recycled countless times. Ding yuxi is so so perfect for Chu Kong, if only they make him a little bit more bratty. The novel is fun and they tribulation developed in a more natural way, it is heartbreaking at some point (lu hai kong arch goddamnit), hillarious in their hair pulling match, and overall just capable to make you blush here and there.
Meanwhile the drama is like.... a bunch of auntie and uncle watching cringe soap opera. Idk, the way these lead didn't take the reincarnation seriously and stuck in their godly mindset is so off putting. Yes, in the novel they take turn bringing their memories, but you see, even with it they always get carried in human emotion. The tribulation force them to follow humanity, to understand a sense of life and death, of joy and compassion, to understand each other in a more complex way instead of just the reputation attached to their name.
Suck, because this novel is one of my favorite from the author, beside cang lan jue. Maybe I put my expectation too high.

been rewatching lyst and in doing so i had this realization about the show's cycles and patterns through the lifetimes -
chu kong follows a pattern of living on after losing xiangyun. it's not even intentional, like after losing cang hai he had his memories wiped, and then after losing song xiangyun as lu changkong, he had promised to stay alive. so unless they die together or he dies first, if any version of chu kong loses any version of xiangyun, he will continue to live. xiangyun on the other hand, never survives without chu kong. of course there's the third lifetime when she, as xiaoxiang, kills herself upon his death. but even from the second lifetime, she says to her parents that if lu changkong dies, she will die too. so unless they die together or she dies first, because there is nothing stopping her, any version of xiangyun will follow any version of chu kong to death.
but then, at the very end when chu kong gives up his life to save xiangyun through the soul protecting spell, xiangyun lives. she doesn't immediately sacrifice herself and has faith in his return, thus breaking the pattern just like they broke the time loop. every cycle is closed, and that's how you know they'll finally have their happy ending.

The thing that I find the most fascinating about the story is actually is that it’s the first one I’ve seen that tackles what’s it like to have the “mortal experience” and then it’s done but you still have feelings after it and then what.
The closest I’ve seen a drama come to it was with Dong Hua and Feng Jiu in Three Lives where he went to mortal world ostensibly to experience a tribulation with her but in reality because however miserably it would end it was the only way he could experience love with her. But that was different because it dealt with preexisting feelings on both their parts and added stuff on top. Here, this is so different because the thing is - neither of them had any interest in the other as their divine entities (yes yes fat hints they were couple unknown to present them but I am talking insofar as they are aware.) And the amazing thing is she falls in love despite knowing it’s all an elaborate play only with amnesia, an elaborate Truman Show where she’s the only one aware this is not her reality.
And what is even more amazing she does not fall in love with immortal Chu Kong who she still barely knows, she falls in love with the very very mortal Lu Changkong and the thing is, I cannot imagine the mind trip it is to fall for someone who you know is not really real, who is at best a memoryless sliver of the actual person, who will cease to exist forever soon. I find it so telling that even as she’s dying, this js her concern:

And then she comes back and the immortals are all “mortal affairs stay in the mortal world don’t be sad” the way you talk to a kid who got a little wound up about a make believe play. But the thing is, it’s not make believe to her, the feelings were real. And so she desperately wants to know how LCK has been since she dies, and actually keeps begging to see him again and again (though of course he cannot see her - the scene where by her grave he says he kept his promise and didn’t kill himself so please to give a sign and her tear falls into his palm is poetry!)

And she keeps seeing them as separate entities entirely - when she’s worried if LCK is still alive she reassures herself that Chu Kong is not back and that means LCK is alive. This is such an interesting take and rings so true - because what makes us be us are personality, memory, experiences etc etc - I mean nobody would argue identical twins are literally the same person tho they have identical DNA.

The captivating notion of "I'll continuously fall in love with you across every universe" is what captivated me about this drama. And its execution certainly didn't disappoint. The portrayal of their characters, former lovers grappling with forgotten pasts, reuniting and rediscovering their love, truly resonated with me.

Xiang Yun, a celestial matchmaker fairy, unexpectedly crossed paths with the enigmatic God of War, Chu Kong. While her initial purpose was to find a match for him, the threads of destiny wove their intricate tapestry, uniting their fates. This union propelled them through numerous lifetimes, which each replete with the trials of their love's journey.

Mortal Lu Chang Kong, without Chu Kong's memories, remains unforgettable for his sincere affection towards Xiang Yun, which gradually thaws her heart.

The police team report back that all areas are secure and Police Captain Chen thinks the major target must be the full submarine blueprints, but Factory Chief Han advises he locked it back in the safe at the time of the fire and comfirms it's still there.

The police team see a demonstration of the delay mechanism on the acetylene and phosphorus ignition that was found in the burnt out workshop and Ji Danyang calculates a maximum of 5 hours possible for the trigger delay.
When Nurse Bai visits Secretary Lu in his dorm again, he is wary and wondering how she could have known something like the fire would happen to give him the time to photograph the blueprints, and asks her if she is a spy. He says if he gives her the camera then he cant turn back but he still cant bring himself to condemn her and gives her the camera on the promise they will go to Hong Kong together.

Officer Hongmei discharges herself from the hospital while Nurse Bai tries to get her to stay and rest and they meet a tired Ji Danyang who is worn out from the planning of the survival test. He tells them that they still need to find a suitable location and that Nurse Bai's Specialist Medical Unit will be needed again soon.
Nurse Bai delivers the camera film to the hiding spot and seamstress Miao passes it onto the Fake Li Qiuchen with the message that the experts are looking for a testing location. Meanwhile, the police team set up sentries on the mountain around the air raid shelter and guard as workmen prepare the space in secret.
Fake Li Qiuchen visits Dr Bai again to question if he wont rejoin the KMT, does that mean he's planning to report them, but Dr Bai says he doesn't care what they're doing, he just wants no part of it. In turn, he asks if Fake Li Qiuchen had coerced Nurse Bai into working with them but is told that they're only using Nurse Bai to force Dr Bai to help Snow Wolf kill Expert Chief Chu, and Fake Li Qiuchen agrees to arrange a meeting.

At the abandoned warehouse Dr Bai answers the phone call from Snow Wolf and tells them that if they don't show up he'll walk. He hangs up the phone and turns to leave but is stopped when a voice calls out to him. From behind a partition, Seamstress Miao appears and identifies herself as Snow Wolf and gives him the order to return to the field. Dr Bai complies, on the condition that they leave Nurse Bai out of it and Seamstress Miao agrees.

Assistant Welder Rui meets with Nurse Bai at the hospital under the ruse of having another nosebleed and she warns him about the investigation into the ignition trigger, and gives him an envelope of money from their superior.
The police team link a part of the ignition trigger to Assistant Rui, and Officer Hongmei advises that she had one of the welders inquire about Assistant Rui's apprenticeship, and learned that he'd been recommended to Master Welder Niu by someone who was recently caught as a spy. Master Welder Niu is called to the police office and confirms that he saw Assistant Rui destroying evidence. Master Welder Niu is angry that Assistant Rui is lying and suspicious and he works with the police to corner his apprentice, but Assistant Rui runs from the workshop with Officer Hongmei in pursuit.

I was so proud of Secretary Lu for working out that Nurse Bai was a spy and was hoping that he would destroy the camera or something but no. That mini camera wouldn't have been easy to use, I'd laugh if half of the photos came out blurry because Secretary Lu was nervous and looking over his shoulder the whole time he was taking them. I mean, there's no guarantee that whoever you're coercing has a lot of experience with photography and cameras in 1958 didn't have auto focus or anything.
"For the sake of their beautiful future." Gag. Oh Secretary Lu. Can he at least survive this to share a cell with Security Captain Li and they can bond over being dumbasses in love with the wrong person?
It's good to know that the KMT spies don't know everything thats happening in the factory and havent learned of the air raid shelter.

The seamstress is Snow Wolf! That would explain why she was growling at Lai Guangrun. Unless this is another diversion and she's covering for the real Snow Wolf. They've kept their face secret for this long, it wouldnt surprise me if it turned out to be someone else. So they need Dr Bai's medical expertise for their plan to kill Expert Chief Chu, by why so covert? Is that just because all of their other attempts have failed?
Confirmation that Assistant Rui went to kiddie spy school too. But your days are numbered now boy. I liked how Hongmei used one of the other welders to buddy up to Assistant Rui to question him. I was wondering what his involvement was about. And I feel sorry for Master Welder Niu, he's a fun and exuberant side character to watch and he doesn't deserve to have a dodgy apprentice.

Hongmei was too busy wanting to get out of the hospital and back to work, and Nurse Bai wouldn't take them if Hongmei wont, so despite the nice gesture our math man is left holding his fruit.

Prosegue con grande successo di pubblico la XV Edizione del Premio Internazionale intitolato al Teatro Nudo di Teresa Pomodoro. Tutto questo allo Spazio Teatro No'hma di Milano 
Dopo il tutto esaurito per i cinque spettacoli che hanno visto in scena artisti provenienti da Argentina, Danimarca, Venezuela, Slovenia e Francia, per il sesto appuntamento della stagione 2023/ 2024 arriva allo Spazio Teatro No'hma la compagnia Ima Collab proveniente da Hong Kong, Cina.
Lo spettacolo si intitola Candide ed è una rivisitazione del celebre Candido, il racconto filosofico e allo stesso tempo romanzo di viaggio e formazione scritto dal filosofo, drammaturgo, romanziere e poeta francese Voltaire nel 1759; quel Candido, giovane ingenuo che crede alle parole del suo precettore Pangloss, il quale sostiene che tutto va "nel migliore dei modi possibili nel migliore dei mondi possibili". 
Adattato e creato dalla compagnia Ima Collab con il pluripremiato regista Chan Chu-hei – che allo Spazio Tearo No'hma ha gia diretto l'applaudito Lu-Ting. Il tritone nel 2021 -  Candide è caratterizzato da personaggi stravaganti, narrazioni poetiche, danze, canti e musica dal vivo.
Lo spettacolo si ispira anche a una antica poesia cinese intitolata "Ritorno ai campi", scritta da Tao Yuanming (346-427 d.c.) considerato l'iniziatore della lirica di paesaggio. 
Candide è stato presentato in anteprima al Festival Fringe di Edimburgo 2023 ed è stato premiato con il secondo posto all'Asian Arts Awars per la migliore regia.
La compagnia Ima Collab è stata fondata nel 2022 da Chan Chu-hei. E' in realtà una sorta di piattaforma artistica che letteralmente significa "creazione di immagini". Il suo obiettivo è la formazione di una nuova generazione di artisti attraverso la collaborazione tra i "veterani" e gli aspiranti professionisti del teatro. 
Ima Collab ha debuttato con "Théâtre sans animaux" (Ribes) al French May Arts Festival 2022. 
"Ci ha colpito la rivisitazione originale, divertente e allo stesso tempo poetica di un classico della letteratura e del teatro.  Questo adattamento offre al pubblico una analisi fantasiosa e stimolante della condizione umana proponendo così una insolita opportunità di riflessione sui tempi in cui viviamo" – spiega Livia Pomodoro, Presidente dello Spazio Teatro No'hma Teresa Pomodoro.
Le date di mercoledì 28 e giovedì 29 febbraio saranno trasmesse in streaming sui canali del teatro.
